How I enjoys when I getting old ~ Duck Koay Teow Tng

Accidentally found this store sometime 2 years ago..............Store started business from around 7am till 12pm sharp. Once it reach 12pm, the owner will stop selling even there are still left of ingredient to continue business. Very "Yao Yeng" rite! kekekeke......I love it so much is because the soup is very clear, very tasty and totally no duck smell at al. The koay teaw noodle came with very soft yet very texture when bite. The fish ball is very tender and "Q". The most important is the duck meat, the texture is very firm when bite, tender, tasty, and totally has no duck smell at all........I always come back from time to time if I managed to go out for lunch early. Have you tried?

Eam Huat Charcoal Steamboat

Once upon a time, Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth used to be a place to enjoy delicious steamboat with lots of food hunter steaming from all places, including myself. Ziwei Steamboat once well known for its steamboat which served fresh ingredients. But sadly lost its glory after being famous.

Found this shop opposite my friend house and patronized this place with few best friends. Surprisingly the taste is really good and delicious. The steamboat comes in four options with price ranges from RM40, RM50 and RM80. We ordered RM40 with Fresh Grouper Fish plus some additional dishes, total cost of RM72. The portion was really big till we hardly move after the meal. The clear soup with yam taste was great. Homemade meatballs and Fook Chau fish ball are very delicious and tender. Will you try this steamboat?

Had you "KUI DIAO" yet?

Koay Teow is a tradition food from mainland China. Popular among Teowchew and Hokkien people, made from rice grind into powder, adding water to become slurry and steaming into a thin flat strips. This tradition food was introduced to Malaysia and Southeast Asia when our ancestors migrated here.

Koay Teow soup boiled with pig or chicken big bones, some will use beef bones as substituted. Koay Teow itself has no taste, by adding in the meat and ingredients making the taste nicer.

This stall had been in this location for decades and still standing strong as because of the soup is clear and sweet with meat taste, mix well with ingredients and sauce. Chicken meat is just right in cooking and very tender.

Small bowl just selling RM3 and big bowl is selling RM3.50.

Clear Soup or Tom Yam?

Found in this shop by accident. Actually wanted to go to Lebuh Cecil flat for oysters noodle, but arrived too early and the shop is not open for business yet. So I drove around the area and to look for other good and delicious food. While searching I found this newly open noodle shop..just started with their business not too long ago. Up till now, the owner only sell Clear Soup and Tom Yam, with many ingredients to add on…such as mantis prawn, pork, fish meat etc…etc. I love the fried fish and mantis prawn, it’s very crisp, very tender.

Clear soup coupled with minced meat and rice noodle makes the broth very sweet, minced meat very tendered. Really good to have it especially in the rainy days or when you are not feeling well. Tom Yam noodles, served with fried fish and mantis prawn making it a perfect match and the Tom Yam soup is not very spicy.

Blended Nutmeg Juice is another attraction in this shop. Cool Nutmeg Juice is a really Thirst Quencher drink for everyone…can also add sour plum.

Summary, the noodle is not expensive in overall. The shop open daily from 11:30am till night time. Closed on Thursdays.

Have you ordered your DUCK?

Every day after work, to and fro, sure passing thru the roadside stalls in the housing area that I stayed, which file with temporary stalls structure, sold with Tong Shui, laksa, braised pork, and duck porridge. Tasted all food and the taste are all so so nia, except duck porridge which never tried before.

Previously colleagues did informed there is a good duck porridge store in Bukit Mertajam but hard to identify the location due to the duck porridge store is in mobile. Goes places to places where the temple is having celebration or busy, they will be station there for some time. Always have bad impression deeply printed that the food there is not tasty, so automatically when seeing new stalls joining the crowd, it had been identified that the food also same!

Days when friends and I passing thru, a friend shouted say "This is the store that sell duck porridge that I told you before one lah!" My reaction is "Huh, really sure is this store meh?" A friend told me to turn back and let her identify accurately before confirmed it’s a store that she recognized. She shouted back and say “Yes lah, this is the correct store lah ! ! ! ! ! ! !” This is where we had a date with duck.

The boss said they will be station here unless there are a few frequented old temple that they been to having celebration, they will be temporarily leaving to make business there for period of time and back to original place when finished. In one day, the boss can sell up to 40-50 ducks. Each duck will go through massage, coated with spices, before hanging up for airing, freshly baked and sold.

Porridge goes well with homemade Mui Choy, the duck and sauce matched make my mouth can’t stop eating. Duck meat very tendered, the sauce is not salty, not sweet, just right to couple with the porridge.

Have you ordering your DUCK?

Yan Kheng Heritage Hotel and Restaurant

Special thanks to my cousin who work as restaurant manager Ooi Ai Sze to introduce such special Hainanese dishes to a group of hungry ghost to have a chance to tasted the famous dishes in Yankheng restaurant. Did paid attention to this place every time pass thru Chulia Street by never have a chance to try. Recently only have good time to enjoy it with those gang.

Hainanese spring rolls, is one of the signature dishes in restaurant. The big spring rolls can be cut into three sectional, dipped with special sauce, accompanied with Hainanese spring rolls, make a really perfect match, crispy and delicious.
Hainanese Chicken Chop which is also a restaurant signature dishes. Chicken steak fried to crunchy, but still kept the sensuality of the chicken, topped with a special Hainanese flavor sauce, good to eat.
Hainanese Fried noodles, signature dishes not to be missed. Really good to eat.
Hainanese lamb stew. All along, I cannot stand the smell of mutton and eat it due to hearty up my body to get sick. But this plate of lamb still is working to my liking, not fishy taste with just right. But still did not dare to eat too much, afraid hearty body.
This chicken pie is the specialty of a night's. Crispy crust comes with butter creamy make all of us hard to resist to starts to taste it. The exciting moment is when the crust felt into the chicken meat and dipped after cut the sauce, making it more delicious and bringing out the taste. A must ordered dish.
Lamb Roll. According to chef, lamb roll required 1 days marinated in advance by adding spinach and garlic into it. Gravy shed before served to bring down the smell of the lamb to minimum. The meat tastes good, accompanied by vegetables. You will smell and taste whiskey that added to bring out the delicious lamb...............
Hot sour fish is one of recommendation dishes. Not sour and  not too spicy, the taste is just right. Matched well with rice.
The last recommended dishes is Yam Duck, which is high promoted by the chef. If the soup is to reduce some ginger and add little bit of yam, will make the dish even more perfect and better.
Above recommended dishes taste are more strong, not recommend to order all of them. Slowly assessment the taste will be more wonderful.
